Plug and Play in Windows 8
I needed a few more USB 2.0 ports on my PC so I got this car. I plugs into a PCI slot and adds 5 more ports, 4 on the back and one internal. Installation was incredibly easy, Windows 8 booted and installed the drivers without a hitch and I was up and running in about 5 minutes total. This is a 3 year old PC with an Asus board and an AMD Athlon 2 X4 processor.

Product installed easily. It worked when I turned the machine on and performs as I expected. No problems with this product. If you need to expand or upgrade, it's the way to go.

Not trully high speed
Installed easily enough but my external disk drive is simply too much for it to handle. It freezes and locks up too much but I use it for mouse and keypad, - light duties, - and that seems to be ok. Frees up my other high-speed ports for the true high-speed items.

Works under Freenas
Installed into an old P3-700 that I use for my home server. Works with the imbedded driver and allows me to use the 2Tb external drive at usb2 speeds. The metal bracket is a little flimsy and had to be straightened but seems secure after installation

Freezes Windows 98SE
Installed driver(s) from included disk then installed card, after shutting down, of course. Machine boots to and past the Window's logo screen, then screen goes to default turquoise color and freezes, no desktop. Mouse & keyboard locked also. Only way out was reset or POPO, power off, power on. Tried 2 PCI slots. There is no other hardware on this machine, other than an IOMEGA ZIP drive through the parallel port, not even a sound card. I'm not going to blame the card as I don't know for certain if the card is the problem. After removing the card, the machine boots notmally. Although disappointed, I can still transfer files, which is seldom via the parallel port ZIP drive.

Junk, started smoking, melted itself
Put the thing in. All seemed fine. Was able to get a mouse to work and then it started smoking and main chip started to bubble. Junk!
